Purchasing Manager

Job purpose
Oversee the procurement of production components, manage supplier relationships and ensure best quality and cost are achieved.
Duties and responsibilities

• Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to quality, delivery performance, schedule and cost
• Analyze and select suppliers based upon quality performance, on-time delivery and competitive pricing
• Create supplier performance improvement plans to drive higher performance
• Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost and quality to obtain the best total cost
• Manage supplier relationships and business environment
• Improve supplier capabilities and capacities
• Identify cost savings opportunities through process improvement / design change ideas
• Travel required (up to 15% domestic and/or international)

Qualifications/ Education

• BA/BS degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Materials Management or 2 years post-secondary education and 5 years purchasing or related experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of product and market
• Previous purchasing or buying experience
• Technical experience with associated commodities
• Fundamental accounting terms and procedures
• Fundamental business transactions and terms
• Strong MS Office skills
